Erna J.
Hello, I’m Erna. I’m a qualified and experienced teacher of English. I live in Malta with my family and our dog, Tor. I’m passionate about helping people learn new skills. I’m also a starting up dog behaviourist and trainer. I love the great outdoors and sports. I spend most of my evenings and weekends in nature with my friends, family and Tor. We go camping, rock climbing, swimming, trail running, cycling, hiking and sailing.
What I most like about teaching is…
…seeing people’s confidence in using English increase day by day.
My best lesson
I remember once I had a lesson based on a funny TV series. Learners had a lot of fun acting and then comparing it to the original scenes.
My favourite activities
I like including movement and games in my teaching e.g. Jenga, Uno, boardgames etc.
The best thing about teaching English is …
…that whenever I have a fun idea, I can put it in my lesson plan, adapt it and then see the students work together, learn and enjoy themselves.
My teaching philosophy
Good experience and trust are the key to successful teaching. My job is not only to teach the language but to build a bond with my learners and help them enjoy the learning process without pressure, stress, but with some hard work – from both sides.
